Natural disasters assignment

Hi class

Your next assignment is on Natural Disasters.  You can choose any kind of natural disaster you like to report on.

For the first part of the assignment, you are required to research a particular event (e.g. Queensland floods, Japanese earthquake and tsunami) and prepare a blog post providing statistical information in relation to the event, as well as a brief summary of what occurred.

For the second part of the assignment you are required to investigate the science behind the type of event you have selected (i.e. floods, tsunamis) and prepare a blog post explaining how these events occur.

You are encouraged to use pictures, links and videos to support your explanations however these should not take place of the explanations - unless you have created them yourself.

Please be sure to include a bibliography of links to all websites used in your research.

Hi everyone

Here's the website I was telling you about in class today.  Dr Karl is a super cool scientist who has written lots of books and does regular radio spots, including a Thursday morning spot on Triple J.  He has even had his own TV show called Sleek Geeks along with super cool mathematician Adam Spencer.
